The Legoland in Germany, which covers an area as large as 26 football fields, is divided up into eight theme areas.
Each theme area is designed to ensure that heroes of all ages will find much to explore and enjoy at the LEGO® experiment centres, roller coasters, water attractions and shows. The whole family can thus embark on a day-long voyage of discovery and adventure.
The centrepiece of the park is MINILAND. Here, on a scale of 1:20, famous European towns and landscapes have been recreated from over 25 million LEGO bricks, with loving attention to detail. To make MINILAND as realistic as possible, people, animals, cars, ships, trains and aeroplanes can all be moved at the touch of a button – together with the appropriate background noises.
The first Legolandpark was opened in 1968 in Billund, Denmark. This was followed in 1996 and 1999 by the parks in Windsor (UK) and Carlsbad (California). Legoland Deutschland is the fourth park of its kind, and was opened in Spring 2002. Since 2005, the four Legoland parks have belonged to the British-based Merlin Entertainments Group, which also operates other leisure attractions, such as the Sea Life centres, the Dungeons, and the Earth Explorer.
