The Hellabrunn Zoo in Munich was founded in 1911 as the first zoo that kept animals without grids or fences. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Henning Wiesner, Hellabrunn is among the most biologically diverse zoos in Europe. In 2010 it was home to 17,811 animals representing 709 species.
The Tierpark Hellabrunn is very active in breeding, reintroduction and conservation projects.
Over 1.5 million people visited Hellabrunn in 2010.
New dimensions in the keeping of gorillas and chimps in the jungle-house. A foil roof overdraws the jungle of 1870sqm. Other highlights are the “elephant house”, the cage for the lions and panthers and a large aviary.
A playground for the kids will provide even more fun for the kids. You can also watch the stockmen feed their animals.
The little tricks of the sea lions are a special highlight and make everyone laugh. The exercises are used as a daily routine to check the health of the animals for example of their teeth without problems.

Watch the raptors at their training. The stockmen will inform you about interesting and fascinating mannerisms of those birds.
Performance daily from 13.00 – 13.45 in the park area “America” next to the bisons.
Fun for everyone. And don’t be scared. With the special pelican skewer even your kids will be little heroes and can feed the peckers (50cent per fish)

Watch the doves doing their exciting dives. The dives can be done from nearly every position. But the most beautiful dive can be shown in a 90° angle.
